Protecting Your Commission
As an affiliate seller, you can be at risk from people who amend your 'hoplink' in some way before ordering - most commonly to alter it to their Clickbank ID so they get credit for the sale and effectively pay half price or so for the product.
For example if they see that your hoplink is http://hop.clickbank.net/?yourID/vendorID it is very simple for them to substitute their Clickbank ID for yours in the URL line of their browser. Now when they click on the altered link they get credited with the sale, rather than you.
And many people simply delete the affiliate ID so they go straight to the vendor's page without a reseller 'cookie' (the code that tells Clickbank who made a sale). It doesn't save them any money, but quite large numbers of buyers seem to do this for some reason.
So it makes sense to place something between your 'buy' button or link, and the vendor's sales page, so that potential buyers cannot see either the vendor ID or your Clickbank ID. Of course, they could always search for the product elsewhere on the web, or directly on Clickbank, but the chances of a successful credit for your sale are much improved if you hide your 'hoplink' in some way.
The simplest solution is to use a 'redirect page' - a simple web page that sends the buyer to the 'hoplink' indirectly, so the buyer never sees the critical information. Here is an example of how to do this in PHP (you will need to check that PHP is enabled at your web host).
Open a text editor program such as Notepad and cut 'n paste the following code (starting with '< ' and ending with '> ') into a blank file:

Replace 'xxxxx' with your ClickBank ID and save the text file as 'order.php'. Upload the file order.php to the same web folder as your sales page.
