It really IS possible to increase your ‘Brain Power’

It used to be thought that anyone’s ‘intelligence’ was a fixed value (like the capacity of a jug) that could be measured by means of specially designed intelligence tests. But what we now know is that an individual’s ‘IQ’ can vary over time, and can be different in different situations, dealing with different types of information, or even at different times of day!

In other words, it’s not a fixed value at all, but a dynamic one that depends on how well information is being processed at a particular time.

This is because intelligence is not a function of the number of brain cells (neurons) but a measure of the number of relevant connections between them. Each of your 100 billion or so brain cells has a number of ‘incoming’ and ‘outgoing’ fibres (dendrites and axon terminals) which act like electrical wiring to connect the neurons with one another. Just one neuron in the cortex (the ‘gray matter’) can have anywhere between 1,000 and 15,000 connections with other cells in the brain, so an average human brain can have upwards of 100 TRILLION (1 followed by 15 zeros!) connections within it.

But just to complicate the picture, it is not just the sheer amount of ‘connectivity’ that determines brain power. If it was then the average 3 year old would be a mental superhuman compared with an adult, because as children we all have around 10 times as many ‘connections’ in our brains as we do in adulthood. But what is far more important than sheer numbers is the quality of the connections - whether they make any sense in processing information.

This is why we have fewer ‘wiring’ connections as adults - because 90% of the connections we had as toddlers were not used and so died away. This doesn’t mean that our brain cells died (although there is a continuous and irreversible loss with age) - just that they became more efficient by discarding useless connections.

This is an ongoing process. We are all ‘works in progress’, and as we go through life we are continually forming new connections and discarding others, as we learn and adapt. Connections that are used regularly increase in strength, while those that are not used weaken and eventually stop working. But most of the time, this is a random process, and our overall abilities tend to remain fairly stable.

So if you want to increase the efficiency of your brain  - be smarter, have a better memory, be more creative, adaptable and successful - then you need to direct some of this process to produce an overall increase in both the the number and the quality of connections so that your brain can function more effectively at all times.

Amazingly, a tool that enables this process has now become available - its is called  ‘brainwave entrainment’.

The modern miracle of ‘entrainment’

‘Brainwave entrainment’ is a resonance effect which allows a person’s brainwave frequencies to be influence by an external signal, usually sound or light. The phenomenon has been known for some time, but just recently digital technology made it into a repeatable and controlled process. Not only that but research has now shown that there are phenomenal benefits to be had from regular exposure to properly designed entrainment programs - benefits which are out of all proportion to the effort (none!) involved.

You can find a full in-depth explanation of brainwaves and entrainment at another part of our web site, HERE (page will open in a new tab or window), but for the moment this is just a brief overview.

Here are just a few of the mental and physical  benefits already discovered for exposure to properly designed brainwave entrainment programs:

More are being discovered all the time. Entrainment is a ‘work out’ for the brain, and like any other exercise it makes the whole system function more smoothly and efficiently. But unlike exercise, NO EFFORT IS REQUIRED! All you need to do is find about thirty minutes three or four times a week when you can lie back and listen to a simple audio recording.

Well perhaps ‘simple’ is not the word. In fact recordings designed to produce entrainment by means of binaural and isochronic beats generated using advanced audio technologies that control volume, phase, filtering and distortion in just the right amounts and at just the right frequencies are anything but simple.

But from the listener’s point of view none of this matters. All that matters is that finally, here we have a tool for personal development that is inexpensive, reliable and powerful, yet is simplicity itself to use.

More and more people are now discovering this simple route to greater mental alertness, clearer thinking and ability to cope with life’s stresses.  If you haven’t tried it yet, now is your chance - you will be amazed at what happens!
